A Document is an Element that is either representing a physical Document only or has the actual Document attached. The Element Type "Document" is usually chained (nested) to another Element to provide further information, clarification, etc.

Using Placeholders in Documents

  • Documents can get uploaded to the Element of the Type Document.
  • Documents can get created from within the Element using the Kiptr Document Editor.
  • Standard document editing functions are available once the Document is opened in the editor.
  • The use of Placeholders allows the insertion of data from within the entire Project Tree.
  • A mouse click on a Field Header in the Project Details Window allows the user to select Field ("Copy Placeholder").

Note: The Element has to be in "View" mode, not "Edit" mode.

  • Back in the Document Editor, the "Paste Placeholder" button can be used to place the Field Reference into the Document.
  • Once the Document edits are completed and saved, the Document Editor closes.
  • Back in the Project Tree, the Element now has an attached document.
  • A "Right" mouse click on the Element allows the selection "Fill in Placeholders."
  • After entering document specific information, a new Document "Child-Element" is created with all the Placeholders filled in.

Tip: Consider using a 2nd Web-Browser Tap with the Kiptr Application opened to efficiently switch between "Copy Placeholder" and "Past Placeholder".
