Definition
A Template is a pre-defined Element, or usually a chain of predefined Elements, that represent frequently used or repetitive Project structures.
Example: Template for an Air Compressor Station, including all Equipment, standard Documents and Tasks.
In a typical workflow, a Template is created from a Project or portion of a Project by selecting an Element of interest and saving it and all "Child" levels as a Template. A Template can get edited later on in the Template menu if needed. Inserting Templates into the Project requires the selection of a "Parent" Element. The imported Template structure is saved underneath the "Parent" Element.
- Templates are "snippets" of a Project created for re-use.
- All "Child" Elements are part of the Template unless the option is "unchecked"
- Templates are saved in user-defined Template Categories to help with organization.
- Saved Templates can get modified inside the Template View if needed.
- A "Purge data" option is available when adding a Template into a Project.
Info: The highest level Element in a Template will get a new Tag-Number assigned when adding it to a Project (first un-used number, starting from 1) |
